Thanks, first of all, for visiting our “Be a Ref.ca” website. We welcome your interest in becoming a football official, as these extraordinary individuals are instrumental in keeping games at all levels fair and safe for all concerned. The week of September 3 – 13th, 2010 has been declared Football Officials’ Week in Canada in an effort to draw attention to the need for more men and women to “wear the stripes” on football fields across Canada.
The game of football is experiencing unprecedented popularity and growth in all parts of our country and the CFL is thrilled to see that more Canadians than ever are enjoying the game at both Professional and Amateur venues.
However, this strong growth has created the potential for a shortage of trained officials at the amateur levels and if you love the game of football and are looking for a way to be involved in the game in your community, you’ve come to the right place. Simply click on either of the links on this page to either connect with one of the many local Football Officials’ Associations in Canada, or to simply send us your contact information and we’ll have someone get in touch with you.
Your local Officials’ Association will help you receive some basic officiating training which will allow you to work games at the Atom, Pee Wee and Bantam levels in your area to get your “feet wet”, and if that works out, you may move on to the High School level and beyond, depending on your ability and your desire to advance.
You never know, with the right amount of training and time on the field, I may be speaking to you about joining one of the crews at the CFL level at some point in the future., In the meantime, I can assure you that you’ll meet some exceptional people and you’ll have the time of your life officiating some great amateur football in your community.
Thanks for your interest….hope to see YOU soon on the gridiron!
